2 Pfennig Bremen [Stadt, Freie Stadt] [solved]

Dear Moderators,

I found this coin without pictures.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces40196.html

I have a coin which matches exact descriptions. I am attaching the photos taken by me of the coin in my collection. If it is indeed the same as the one above, it would be great if these can be added to Numista as the coin representations.

The weight of my coin is 2.84g and diameter is just above 20mm.

Regards,
Sanket

Yes looks the same to me - I will add your pictures with your name under them in a moment.
Thanks and welcome to the forum. :)

I have now rotated and cropped images, and added them - now await approval by referee.

@ZacUK:

One hint: The legend "BREMEN" is on the base. For me as a German the key looks funny, when he stands upright. The Bremen coat of arms: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen
I wondered which way, and have made an amendment request for the page; thanks.

EDIT: Now on the page.

ZacUK, can you please let me know how you managed to crop the pictures so perfectly. I tried my hand at a few different tools including mspaint. But not able to get the results same as your work.

I use the free program PhotoScape ...
https://en.numista.com/forum/topic38900.html#p327826
and for your images I rotated then cropped.

1. This is the opening page for the program ...

then of the 13 icons in the circle on the right I choose the top one called Editor .

2. Here is your first image in the program (on the left pane click on file on your
computer where the image to be worked on is saved, and it appears on left with
blue highlight and is shown large on the right) ...

That is the lower left of the page, so other parts off the screenshot. At lower middle above
the Resize are five icons, and the Rotate Arbitrary is the first arrow in the row above.

3. A smaller screen appears on top of the other; click top left the Rotate tab, then
drag the slider below the image to rotate it, like I show the final result. Then save it.

All above sounds tricky but is easy, and takes me a few seconds!

4. Then of four icons lower left click on Crop and tick the little
box Crop Round Image ...

which I place the cursor outside top left then drag over the image, and show
above that still to drag it to the right.

5. So having checked it looks alright click below on Save Cropped Area ...

which shows the final result. Again it takes only a few seconds. Here it is ...

before and after. :)

Thanks ZacUK. You are the best!

I tried this as per your steps and am very happy with the results.

Not to keep bothering you but if you could just guide me on one more point. Does editing the catalog, automatically puts a comment on our profile in the Catalog Contributions? For example if instead of availing your kind help in editing this Bremen coin, if I would have requested the edits myself - will this have been noted on my profile?
Sorry again but I am just getting used to the advanced features of Numista.

Thanks a lot Noah. This is very informative and helpful.
Tried the steps mentioned in the post as well with the GIMP tool and getting good results.

Yes - it will add a number on your profile page.
If you like you can add my pictures to this page ...
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces39549.html
and put your name underneath them!

I can verify the page after you do that.
There were pictures on there before but I removed them as they
were a similar but different coin (from Saba).

z) Pictures for Exonumia and advanced tutoring on catalogue modifications and picture cropping. It is like Christmass in June for me Zac! <:D

:) More pictures to come - so far all the Exonumia that I bought recently are
already on here. Then I saw that one had pictures from a different country (but
the correct description) so just now made those of mine. I see the North Pole only
has the 0.05 Roubles (Russian set) on here so will add the others; then still
working through what else I have to see if they need adding too.

Thanks ZacUK. I have made the changes. I am truly floored by the amazing features Numista has, and very disappointed I didn't find this treasure trove of knowledge sooner.

Really appreciate your help and guidance on this post.

Not to sound like a noob, but I have been collecting coins for the past 10 years of my short 28 years of life, and just starting to realize how infinite is the knowledge we can get from such a simple thing that are coins -something we take for granted very early in our life!

I would love to help out the moderators in any way I can.

If you want to help, I have some basic tasks that need to be done listed on the forum. Links are listed under this post. :)

Sure Jarcek. I can take up some.
Unfortunately none of the translations (missing lettering) and the tokens fall under my language expertise or collection focus, so that would leave me able to help on the image crops required. Seems I can put the guidance given above to test!
Feel free to assign me some of the image crops which haven't been completed yet and I will get on them in my spare time.

I have so much work, that I really cannot assing jobs individually, so I worked out this to be semi-automatic.
Just go there: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic49676.html and write something like: I take K1 - 10 or anything you want to do. I will bold it afterwards, so everybody will see that those are being taken care of. <:D
