Is there a method of choice to store individual proof coins for the long term without losing their mirror finish? I am planning to use airtite capsules for the few that I have and wonder if that will do the trick for the long run. Please share your experience if you have a better method...
i have two proof sets that really oxidized badly on some coins wonder why? arent the proof cases supposed to be airtight i didnt own them the whole time of there existence for they are 1970s sets but i wonder if temperature might have been the issue storing in cold say a garage in winter or storing in hot say in an attic in the summer or even too dry or too moist climates could possibly create some form of condensation also wich could change the condition of coin thats the only thing i could assume happened to mine so that might be another thing to watch for when storing proof coins at a steady average temperatured place or the same might happen to yours a guy i know lives in this house that has really bad sulfer deposits in the water must be in the air too becouse you can leave your change sitting on his table for a month or so and its totally unreadable so that may be another thing to watch for but thats just a rare annomaly there its the only place ive ever seen that type of thing happen its weird though it could affect the coins that drammatically but if you watch them daily you can pull them out nicely naturally rainbowed on some
