Italy 20c 1919

Little question : in numista catalog this coin (20 centesimi - KM58) has double listing :
reeded edge and smooth edge
reeded edge has been marked as being rare
KM says this coin exists both with reeded and smooth edges, but does not indicate any difference...

So : is it really rare ? And if so, is the reeded one more valuable ?

the coins are struck on the old planchets KM38 - for that coin Krause gives no indication about the edge,
the one I have is reeded.

is it possible that all planchets originally were reeded, and that a lot of them lost their reeding (worn of) ?

thanks for any info !

Hello tony.c,

the situation is the same for year 1918 and 1919.
Edge must be smooth, but many coins have remaining of old coins KM38.

So is easy that  you can find a wasted reeded, sometimes little little mark.

A perfect reeded edge is very rare..... but non big value, is not much requested from italian collector.

kind regards
