I collect error coins – low cost, not the big money ones. I have a small collection of errors (foreign and US) I know many members do not collect error coins and find them useless.
Here is a few reasons I collect them:
· Error coin collecting is unpredictable
· The hunt is thrilling
· It’s educational
· Each mint error is unique in it’s own way
· It’s challenging
How many error coins do you have in your collection?
Those who believe they can do something and those who believe they can't are both right.

Hi Ed
I have a few , well a lot in some way. For me it is the hunt. And learning more about how coins are made. Iam hopping to have enough time this summer to start a big challenge. The US dime most common error is the deformed rim from a lose hub. I want to see if I can start a collection of just that error. Like from 1970 to date. Years and mint marks. Well after you show me what they were ,and I read some on them. I just started to save them. And I got 20 of them I started to think what if there are enough of these error to make a set of years and mint marks. Now I have 30 or 40 of them. Ed you have taught me a lot, and want to thank you. So this summer iam going to just make a note book of errors I keep. My odd dimes and of coarse ghosting.
Oh and now I like to look at a coin design and see where it will just to wear out at, in the beginning. Like the French centimes. Here in images is were the F touches the hat and not touching the hat. The pressure at the bottom of the F with the hat so close most be very high.
F not touching hat f touching hat
Iam also finding a lot of differences in the US mount Rushmore quarter with Jefferson hair by the RE in Rushmore. Where I think the die is starting to die. As you can tell iam in to this
Oh the French coins shown are 10 centimes coins

Yes Daryl the hunt is a lot of fun and when you find one and know why the error happened is just pure satisfaction.
The Roosevelt dime deformed rim from a lose hub better known as Cud can be a profitable hunt. This site tells it all. http://cuds-on-coins.com/
