Has anyone experienced that when a show comes around that you are planning on attending, silver starts to climb, and when the show is over, it starts to fall? It happens to me every time that I plan to attend a show, such as one that is coming this weekend.
Fluctuations of a couple of dollars shouldn't make too much difference since most silver coins are worth more than melt value. But I wouldn't know because I've never been to a coin show before.
Well, I had a similar situation but with gold. During the first day of the show the gold price was ok for me but when I came back the next day, I payed 10 or 15 EUR more. Not a huge difference, but a bit annoying :)
I bought most of my big silver pretty much directly after I got a big monetary prize (~$300) in a contest I never intended to win (and barely found out about in time to enter).
That was in April 2011. Silver sold at $40 per ounce.
(As it happens, back then, I hadn't found the right shops yet either, so the prices I actually paid were even higher.)
