None have been released into circulation yet as far as I know. There are a few extremely expensive sets being sold by the mint.
RCM said, 2017 Canadian circulation coin will be "Canada 150 series" commemorative coin; 2017 classic coin (bear, duck, deer, bluenose, beaver) will not be placing into circulation.
so wait!
does that mean that there's not going to be any regular 2017 coins from canada?! B. 8~ :o

There are regular coins, just not in circulation. You can get the classic designs with a 2017 date in uncirculated sets from the mint.

Anything in circulation will have the commemorative designs. I can confirm that those have hit change drawers in a store or bank near you.
Yes. They are already in circulation. Also the 125 years of Stanley Cup is out as well..

That one I'm not clear on. Are those actually circulating or are they just available through the mint in circulation finish?

it's a commemorative but it will circulate. . ( or already is)
I bought a set to keep my year collection not to interrupt.

I already got some of the confed coins in circulation... not the Stanley cup though. I also bought the unc set with the regular 2017 dates and the coloured coins. Figure they maybe worth something some day given there are only 75,000
wow crazy responses on this so far, thanks!
as for my own personal collection, i pretty much collect general circulated common canadian coins.
although i've been fortunate enough to be kinda pretty lucky with a large amount of my collection thanks in part to the awesome trades on this website from even more awesome people.
i'm still trying my best to fill up my coin books.
it is my hope of course to land some of the new 2017 commons, nickle, dime, quarter, dollar, 2 dollar, loonie - toonie what have you.
i am still on the hunt and look out for several other canada coins however!!!
hoping to land a pesky 1982 dime this week in a trade actually...
i would love to get some of the more fancier uncirculated sets but i'm not sure i ever will to be honest unless i get really lucky.
the wildest i've gotten with my canada coins is some really awesome large sized dollar coins from the 70's and i think about 9 or 10 fifty cent pieces so far.
i really thought i'd never get any of these!
oh ya! and some way old school pennies too!!!
i super really wish i could finish my penny books!
sooooooooooooo close!!!!
i just need a few more from the 20's
(and so does my wife!)
maybe i will look for that post i did some time ago and update it again...
see if i can grab a few more to fill the gaps...
ah i love this website lol hahaha!!!

Just an heads up, some of those 20's pennies, go up to $100..
So do you guys not count the commemorative years in your circulation collections? It's not the first time Canada has done it and it won't be the last.

They are getting stupid with the sets you can purchase though and it's getting annoying.

I don't know about getting stupid, I mean people buy it. Some people will buy those sets no matter what cost, so who's stupid again?? No offense for those who bought them, I bought a set for myself with the colorized coins. Is just they know people buy and put money into it, I don't call that stupid..
Oh I just mean they're getting insulting. It's very good business actually but it's insulting.

You need a spreadsheet to figure out which sets to get.

that I agree. So many options and sets.
And if I'm reading things right then there are still more to come.

also correct. I think they planning to release 150 coins on total for the 150 years of canada..
The frustrating part is that they keep releasing sets with the same coins but a tiny variation or worse still a set with one coin missing.

I believe some coin dealers will have single coins so you just get what you need..
Some of the coins for sure but there are others that only come in a set or whatever. My point is that they only do it to sell extra sets. And it's our fault they do. Consumers as a whole I mean.

"Only 75,000" - that's what I thought too. But this number is for that specific set, the one that includes 6 coins (Nickel, Dime, Quarter, 50 Cents, Loonie and Twonie). But 5 of them (without a 50 Cents piece) are also included in a 12-coin set, the one in a nice maple leaf folder. All coins are now offered in special wrap rolls too. I doubt it will be possible to figure out exact mintage numbers without The Mint publishing their data. Pathetic!

With regards to all different sets, same thing - money grab! There are basically 14 coins total if you count 6 regular coins dated 2017, 6 2017 commemoratives and 2 coloured commemoratives (quarter and Twonie). But there is no 14-coin set that is available. All the sets that are available are incredibly overpriced.

I personally haven't seen any of the 2017 coins in circulation yet. According to their website The Mint will start shipping the 125th Anniversary of Stanley Cup quarters tomorrow (April 10). One could get some at special "exchange" events in downtown Toronto though a few days ago.
i just got 2 -2017 u.s.a. dimes today from the grocery store!!! :wiz:

Saw the Stanley Cup example yesterday (at the bowling alley).

I got a roll in local coin show on April 1st and have shared some to my swap partners already.

argh! yet another rip off. Which event in downtown TO was this a few days ago?

On the weekend, I went to my local coin guy to buy some coin sheets and albums. Got into a convo of how the mint is charging double for the rolls ...and then he handed me a roll of the twoonies 2017 commem for face !
According to the mint they're losing money. Somehow their solution for that is by driving away customers with overpriced sets and brazen money grabs.

For me personally I saved up to treat myself to a set this year but all these tactics turned me off the whole idea. I'll likely just try to get one of each in my change and put the savings elsewhere.
Quote: "ashlobo"Which event in downtown TO was this a few days ago?
It was some event at the concourse level of BMO tower in downtown where anyone could exchange their regular quarters for the Stanley Cup one, max 5 per customer. It was on a particular day, for a limited time in the middle of the day, like 1-3pm. I've seen ads for something similar before when they issues Canadian flag quarters last year.
If you missed the Stanley Cup coin swaps you can still get 10 of them for face value from the mint website. $2.50 free shipping for 10 quarters.

Ah then I didn't miss anything. Can't hack it all the way from etobicoke in the afternoon on a work day anyways ;)

yeah I did order 2 of those. But its like paying double face in the end :~ . I'm hoping I'll get a roll somehow later on with just a slight premium
How is it like paying double face value? You pay $2.50 and receive 10 quarters which is equal to $2.50.

No free shipping anymore. $2.99 is what I had to pay to order these.
Oh okay strange. It still says free shipping right on the page where you buy them. I just made a new account and was able to purchase another pack for $2.50 and didn't get charged for shipping.

Not to forget a 39c tax !

Probably you are MC member. (contributed RCM for more than $1,000 a year)
Otherwise, shipping fee will be charged.

I have a MC account which I ordered one pack from. This one was from another account I just made today with another email address (so $0 total spending). It does look different than the other screenshot since it shows "free shipping" right in the description. I put down a different mailing address but used the same credit card as my MC account which is maybe why the free shipping still shows up, doesn't make much sense though. Could be a Manitoba thing maybe, the coins are made about 10 minutes away from my house but still that also doesn't make much sense.

Added: Emailed the RCM about this and got a response saying that the shipping fee is $2.99 plus tax. Looks like they changed the website so it no longer says free shipping. I tried making a third account and purchasing again and it is now saying $2.50+$2.99+$0.39.
geesh, so much for the innocents of simple coin collecting...
all i want to do is get the canadian quarter!
what a racket! (;0
