One good thing I like about the coin shops I go to here is that it's pay cash without taxes. What you see is what you get. Plus I get unusual change, like 50 cent or dollar pieces and two dollar bills, which I like to spend. I have had cashiers ask me me if an Eisenhower dollar or a two dollar bill is real money.
Regarding China, I did get some counterfeit gold from China a couple of years ago. At least that's what the coin shop owner told me.
