This is one of the oddest stories I have seen recently. A Swiss village has banned photo taking because the village is so beautiful it will make people unhappy to see photos and not be there. Seems more suited to April Fools Day. I guess the village government thinks it will make more people visit. I think it will make more people stay away and I am surprised as the Swiss seem more practical in my experience and surely can think of better marketing ideas. What do you think?

New revenue stream for the local government?

I used to work at an old historic house that is a local tourist attraction. They banned photography in the house, saying that the flash photography would deteriorate the furnishings...but the real reason was they wanted to sell more postcards from the giftshops.

Not that far from there, in Austria, a village has attracted a lot of attention as well,
but for another reason ...

Maybe the mayor is also the postcard supplier for the gift shops.
