Thanks to the resent submissions of some members, Italian states has just reached 1527 coins! Thank you to all of the members who have contributed, and especially to my co-referees.

There are quite a few coins that members own, but don't have pictures added. I will start messaging those people soon, but I would appreciate it if you could please add pictures for the coins that you own, no matter what condition they're in.

Thanks, nthn
Very interesting figure!

What is the main source to get Italian States coins for a reasonable price?

Thanks to all members who had contributed for this.
Thanks to Nicola who added more than 100 Venetian coins so far, Apuking for providing loads of images and Ken for cropping.

Grazie a tutti
Great milestone. Well done to all.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble.  It's what you know for sure, that just ain't so.  Mark Twain

Thanks a lot to all, for your great work! I would especially thanks to the referees, very kind, and always ready to help and give advices, people, without which this goal would not have been possible.

@jokinen I will add more coins in this days :)

Complimenti a tutti, fantastico lavoro!
It's looking good.

I don't get a lot of Italian States coins but when I do I always check my new find against the current photo to see if it can be improved. My most recent visit was just a few days ago when I was very happy to find my first coin with an actual portrait of Napoleon - an 1807 Kingdom of Italy Soldo. I've owned several with the "N" cipher and a few French issues where the portrait was worn to oblivion, but this was the first with a clear picture of the great man himself.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Below the 10 EUR mark you're not going to find much except for worn junk. The easiest to find are some of the Papal Lira (1861-6) or Lombardy-Venetia coins, or a Centesimo from the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy.

You could start looking at prices at lamoneta.it, a great Italian coin website that gives a lot of information on realised auction values and loads of images (including fakes which helps you spot them). The more renowned coin shops sich as Numismatica Varesi are likely to be overpriced but at least you get what you see.
1600 by now!

1700 Now! :wiz:
Now we are at 1830.

We made a few changes by splitting the Venice sections in different eras and territories. We look to do the same for Papal States, which has coins from many different mints until the currency was unified in 1835. Splitting into eras also helps to deal with the frequently fluctuating value of silver and gold coins versus account money.

Still many more to come!
