The good news is that it is indeed a coin! It appears to be a late (post-Shahi) bull-and-horseman type jital from NW India, c. 11th-13th century. I don't see an Arabic inscription, so it's likely a Hindu variety rather than Islamic (Ghaznavid). Due to condition, specific attribution may not be possible.
