Honestly, what is it with the Monnaie de Paris and it's Essai making.
As Referee for French Indochina, at this moment of writing, almost half the coins are Essais (39 Essais /80 coins). There are versions of each coin in zinc/aluminium/silver/copper-nickel/brass, and then piedfort versions of some of those; and then versions with 'ESSAI' and without mintmarks of some of those.
Is it just me, or does it seem like the employees of the Monnaie de Paris had nothing better to do than sit around all day making Essai coins of everything they've designed. it is truly infuriating.
