Quote: "CassTaylor"First, I appreciate you recognizing the Hamster's intentions, and looking back, I probably did take the bait and fed the troll more than I should've.

But I protest your diagnosis; If I wanted to be Forum police, I'd have applied to be Forum moderator. I don't police the forums out of big-headedness or desire to feed a troll; but pardon me if I stand up to people I see who have consistently been a bane to the Numista community without any worthwhile contribution to the catalog, whose antics have brought negative amounts of good to the table.

My remark wasn't referring to this discussion only; you've been increasingly aggressive towards posters and derailing threads because their topics didn't interest you or their titles' wording didn't suit you.
As for this thread's OP, harping on at him about Hutt river refereeship (which, come on...) after every one of his interventions doesn't help with anything. The proper thing to do would be to report posts that deserve to be reported and contact mods to ask for a ban if it's deserved or to see if they consider that something needs to be done about his signature—and if they don't, just deal with it.
Oh the hypocrisy, as I stated before - I want cake and I want to eat it !!!
Where were you last xmas Cass when certain members tried to force me to interact with the hamster even though he was currently banned and then opened up another account which was quickly exposed as him.
I was ostracized even though I gave him a chance ( he threw that back in my face ) which I was in no way obligated to do.
I didn't hear your distant moans then did I ? oh the hypocrisy.
The Hamster is what the Hamster does and the forum is only as good as the people who post in it.
Unfortunately Numista has lost focus on the policing of the forums ( take Oggy for starters ) he made false accusations against me which I exposed him for and the next thing I know he becomes a moderator.
Why would the powers that be give such an individual that position ?
Its better to have someone than no one !!
What a farce.

So we have Trolls, cliques, scammers and liars in positions of power, sounds like a lovely place to be doesn't it.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.

3) As for this thread's OP, harping on at him about Hutt river refereeship (which, come on...) after every one of his interventions doesn't help with anything. 1) An example of this, please? It would be extremely petty for me, or anyone to derail a thread because of not being interested. If I'm not interested, I don't post.

2) I'm sorry you're reading my interventions this way, but in the case you're probably referring to, this thread:
https://en.numista.com/forum/topic61614.html
I have not been 'aggressive' in this (quoting me: ...thought I'd suggest to some of our more strongly-opinionated members to at least try and use less partisan terms...); in fact I turned a blind eye and only posted there after it had been several months of the thread being resurrected without purpose, something that the forum moderator who marked it solved seemed to agree with me on.

3) "(which, come on...)" I've addressed previously your concerns over this; forgive me if I say that perhaps as an actual contributor to the Hutt River catalogue, and it's referee, to have my work and title claimed by some troll, means more to me than it might to you. In fact, I have contacted the moderators over this issue,

and unfortunately they aren't able to edit profiles, even if they do agree with me in principle about Hamster.

I'm sorry if these long posts reek of studying law by the way, but an accusation warrants a response.

I have no idea about your conflict with oggy, sir, but what I strongly dislike about Numista's forum is that when someone criticises Numista website or someone from the Numista team it ends up by blaming the whole Numista team overall and all the people who are 'in positions of power'. I sincerely hope that all the conflicts will be solved and that Numista members will stop naming everyone from the Numista team some bad words. Perhaps it will make more sense if you contact Xavier directly and tell your problem.

I'm truly very sorry to hear about your (and other peoples') unfortunate encounters with the Hamster, but I didn't even know him then, or have any interactions with him until this summer, so forgive my ignorance about this event.

If any forum moderators are reading this, I'll rephrase nthn, redsmithstudios, as well as others before, and just appeal to have Hamster banned 'for the good of humanity'.
I can't believe you people, the ones bickering over an issue that you should have ignored in the first place. Have you no common sense, the hamster pulled you in and all you had to do was ignore him. If he's such an issue why isn't everyone ignoring him.

The Numista forums are the very first that I have ever participated in, mainly I avoided any forum because of this kind of crap.

Like other members, I'm laughing at you along with the hamster for being so gullible.

I second THIS! This is the first forum I have even ever posted to much less been semi active on. Over the past few years I have been here I have had a number of encounters with the "hamster" if you guys didn't have such a twig in your @$$ you would learn to just sit back and enjoy the show. As for Cass if you think your that important because of what you do for a website that you can be some sort of Moral Police you really need to reevaluate your life.

Way to go Muenzen this topic has given me some much needed laughs the past couple weeks.

Matt
Perhaps you did not notice my 'moral police' disclaimer in previous posts? In any case, I don't think my little contributions to this website we all use give me higher moral status, but forgive me if I call out a troll for something that he should've had coming to him ages ago.

But I realize you're all right in that trying to seriously negotiate with him was fruitless, and I accept that my doing so while not being fully aware of Hamster's history here 'fed the troll'; so I'm now just joining the push for forum moderators to help make ignoring the Hamster a whole lot easier (if you catch my drift). ;)

Even if the two 'accounts' do make the same mistakes in grammar and use similar patterns of speech, it doesn't matter who sent the accusation; I can confirm that I've never had 'numerous of someone's painstacking efforts' deleted ( I accept something like 95% of all requests I get), but I would certainly have rejected any with such shoddy wording. :x

Easy answer is below.
Stack them all on top of one another or side by side, then measure the overall length/height, then divide by thickness of one coin.
No counting at all required.

For all of you that were so fast to criticize those of us that doubted this insesant forum troll, nether of the “winners” have been mailed a prize. They have been put off until late January, I can only assume that he’s hoping they forget about the whole thing.
The reason I bring this back up is because we need to protect our forum and also new members. There was a time when there were many members that were quick to see through cheap tricks and scammers were quickly called out. Many of those members are not as active as they once were. Sadly we can’t be very trusting and need to be aware that not everyone is as nice as some of us on here. I’ll always call attention to what looks fishy, even if some of you point the bad guy finger at me instead of the real bad guy, I can take it.
To the original poster, you still can make this right, please send out your prizes. Thanks

I happen to know that Hamster has promised one of the winners to send the prize in 'mid-January'; so this begs the question, if the coins are 'packed and ready to be mailed', then why do you need to wait till you 'have time'?

May I ask what it is you do all day in Mbabane that makes you such an esteemed numismatist, that you have barely any time to mail two letters to France, and that the Krakow National Museum waits patiently for over two months concerning some alleged business with you? :.
its not an just drop it into the postboxstory. I must send them registered which means i have to find time to go to the post office and send it from there.

Yes i even wrote mid january because i knew my schedule is so full and the both winners dont worry why its not coming asap. Maybe redsmithstudio should polish his spectacles before doing his ham fisted accusations.

Last time I checked, yes, but your collection is probably so magnificently unique in every aspect that even my best must seem like mere washers beside yours.

As for my referee qualifications, I think maybe my 3700+ edits, can probably vouch for my competence. Of course, they're all stolen contributions from your friend with similarly bad spelling and grammar, so take that as you will.

I reckon several people owe some humble apologies and perhaps as a mild penance, making a commitment to not rush to judgement so quickly and quit putting the worst possible interpretation on the motives of others.

It's getting tiresome.

What should have been a fun contest, with some very worthwhile, generous prizes, has been derailed because.... "troll". I have a question - among those complaining the loudest, are your hands completely clean in disrupting the forum with hostility? Or let's put it another way if you prefer - when did you last do something comparable to what The Hamster just did? Oh, I know some of you have, Neil, David and others, so clearly the question isn't directed to you. Yet I can't help notice the fact that the shriller the harpy, the dirtier the hands.

Let's be clear, some of the complaints about the rodent have some merit and to be fair, he doesn't seek to deny it and takes his licks like a man should. He's his own worst enemy but I've known him for some time as a good, generous and decent person. I won't bore y'all with the details, but suffice to say he has never been given credit for his many kindnesses to myself and others which have never been publically disclosed.

Perhaps it's time for a little self contemplation and maybe even sparing a moment's thought to your own conduct before condemning others with such obvious relish and aggression.

Congratulations on your new found popularity my friend and of course on reaching troll level 100. I stand in awe at your troll mastery, one day I hope to reach the bar you have so nobly set.
Me too. I too reckon some of us owes him an apology.

Perhaps it's time for a little self contemplation and maybe even sparing a moment's thought to your own conduct before condemning others with such obvious relish and aggression.

First off: to be clear since you probably will see this as an act of war or something. I AGREE 100% WITH YOU (I can't stress it more than that). It's just that this time, you might just not be the right person to guilty trip everyone. Just saying.
Anyway, to you Hamster: I'm just really glad in general that, despite all the postpones, this went well. I was really nervous that you would just disappear and meave js all hanging, but you actually pulled in off. Well done! Let's hope we can see more of this side of you, and less of the trolling brat you love to play. OK?

I second this heartily!
It is my pleasure to say that my apology is indeed owed to you for going though with your promises;
Now quit doing this kind of thing:

and we'll be all good, alright? <:D

Fair enough, well done.
