Trench art or trash?

Found this amoungst my coins and decided it was ruined. Could this be an example of coin trench art? I see there are a few cut out coins on bid or buy... how can I varify if this coin is trench art or trash?

I think that this is the coin based on diametre, but I can't date it as the date is cut out;

Yes - the lettering is the same. Shame a florin got cut up. That portait is on the page ...

Called the Jubilee Head, and nicknamed the 'penguin' for the general appearance, which is why it was replaced with the final Victoria version, Veiled Head. Still a nice piece of art, your piece.

Thanks ZakUK! Yes, wanted to kick the dummy who cut up the coin. Still, it is well cut and nice to look at if you forget that it's a Florin. Any input on the trench art angle?

 I would say not trench art. A florin (or two shillings or 24 pennies) would buy a lot in those days. Unless it was created at that time with a buyer already lined up who would pay more than the coin itself.

I've had this cut out coin looked at. According to an "military" antiques dealer, it is South African trench art from the boer war...
