Hi Edduns,

The standard key points for this coin are the cockade's rosette and the vein of the horizontal olive tree leaf below the hole.

Seeing the rosette is a TTB (VF); the more, the better; yours is perfect, ergo TTB 50 (AU) at least.
The vein is visible too. It could lead to something over 50, (55?)

But the point is that it seems to me that the coin has been cleaned.... (hairlines and strange black spot remaining inside the first E of Égalité)

Anyway, have a look at CGB to compare,

I think it might be interesting to add this kind of information to the coin page !
World coins by date and mint place, 1850-2000
Indeed, Tony, indeed.
The point is that these details are available for every f. coin in LeFranc catalogue..... You may even find the keys points from B8 to FdC65 for the 1 franc Semeuse (link below).

But including all comments would be a life mission.....

Thank You for the great information - The photo is of the seller, when I get the coin in hand I will see if it has been cleaned and what the black mark is. I paid $7.00 for the coin. Indeed we need more information of the areas to look at to determine the grade - but - understand the complex of such a project like that. THX Ed

I received the coin today and found it to be beautiful - no noticeable scratches and the black stuff was gunk.
I am very happy with this coin. Thanks All - Ed
