I know I started the last monthly thread as well but I got two lovely old commemorative silver coins and I thought, to hell with it!

Here they are:

1930 Denmark 2 Kroner - Christian X "50th Anniversary of Reign"
1945 Denmark 2 Kroner - Christian X "65th Anniversary of Reign"
Nice. :)

Nice coins, I have one of them (from 1930).

Well, I guess it depends where you are located... (;0
Numista's heart is beating in France. I'm in the Netherlands, the same timezone as France ;) Still February!

Its already March by France's standard and I won't get this coin delivered until next week, so I'll play as well. This is a nice upgrade to my existing one that is below...

Byzantine Empire: Leo V the Armenian (813-820) Æ Follis, Constantinople (Sear 1630; DOC 7)

Obv: LЄOҺ S C-OҺSC; Crowned facing busts of Leo and Constantine, each wearing chlamys
Rev: Large M; cross above, X/X/X to left, N/N/N to right, A below

A gallery of my coins and artifacts can been seen on FORVM Ancient Coins
Well, it's been March here for 28 minutes now, although I did get these relatively cheap coins in the last week of February but hadn't posted them, cause they're not nearly as awesome as that 1838-O half dime.

1859 Indian cent (type 1, no shield reverse), 1853 3-cent (type 1, 75% silver)
1883 nickel (type 1, no "cents"), 1913-D buffalo (type 1, raised mound)
1894 Barber Quarter (I had a type 1 (early 1892) and type 3 (later half 1900 and newer), but wanted a type 2)

The 1859 indian cent is worse condition than it looked from the pictures, but that's what you get for $5. I might try and find a nicer one sometime in the future, but for now I'm happy with it.

And a re-post from Feb's thread 2 days ago, Just cause it's such a rare coin (200 survivors?) that I'm so happy to own I feel like re-posting! And mine has a minor clipped platchet mint error I think? That not a dent in the rim, since there's no vertically displaced metal, so either it's carefully filed or it's a clipped platchet. And I checked with another half dime the indent exactly fits the edge of another coin.

2 nice Habsburgs to start the month:
5 Kreuzer 1821

15 Kreuzer (most likely) 1675

Because, who doesn't like seeing a lady who forgot to wear her chain mail shirt?

It's my second standing liberty quarter, I have the type 1 and 3 now, but still need an example of the type 2 1917-24 where she put on a shirt, but still has the raised date.

Got a lot of of random country coins for cheap, many of which countries I didn't have, for about $15. Nothing as valuable as the USA 1800's silvers I've been getting recently, but I need to work on repairing my Jeep so less money into coins. Kinda fun to see different stuff.

Uganda, Botswana, Cyprus, Tanzania, Argentina, Singapore,
Zambia, Mozambique, Chile, Jordan, Taiwan, Ghana,

Few euro exchange coins.

I will now collect the next month or more for the 75 kopeekkaa 1825 banknote.

Just to know, a little fact about that Brazil's cruzeiro coin you got, the woman depicted on the the coin was based on an actress which died on last weekend.
Here's a blog post which tells the story (in portuguese): https://caraoucoroa.blogosfera.uol.com.br/2018/03/04/tonia-carrero-teria-inspirado-o-desenho-das-moedas-de-cruzeiro-dos-anos-70/ (Tônia Carrero would have inspired the drawing on the 70's cruzeiro coins)

Thanks! I did pay quite a bit for decent condition. I wanted one good enough to make out the shield on the shield (all types have that, but it's one of the first things to wear off), and all the extra rivets on the shield (30 instead of 17 on the type 2 and 3)

I do have one actual blank planchet, it's a 1997 penny I found at Walmart in 1997, a cashier broke open a roll of new pennies to make change, there were 49 1997 pennies, and this 1 blank.

Two days ago I got me these beauties

And since I left Korea yesterday, I got some change in a London café (not the best condition, but they're new to me, so they'll do for now). The coins were nice though.

Thank you Dato. Those little 1 Millieme coins are harder to find than the similar 5 and 10 Milliemes (that's why this coin was the only non-silver coin in this list). And this one indeed is very nice. My pictures are scans and in general scans are not as beautiful as the real thing and this coin is no exception on that rule.

There is reportedly a 2016 with trial on it; 1,000 made and 800 returned, so 200 missing.

This one below is not the one I read, but it does confirm it ...
https://www.changechecker.org/2017/06/08/1-coin-minting-error-confirmed/

Oh dear, just seen another error. A 2017 £1 (normally bi-metal) has been
minted with a single metal blank from the previous £1 ...
https://www.changechecker.org/2018/01/31/is-this-a-new-1-minting-error/
and
https://www.antiquestradegazette.com/news/2018/how-a-1-coin-produced-in-error-could-now-be-worth-over-1000-at-auction/

This is a list I found ...
http://www.checkyourchange.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/poundcoins2.jpg
and this mentions the smooth edge (and says it is 1 in 20 rarity) ...
http://www.checkyourchange.co.uk/the-six-new-1-coin-varieties/
though I am sure it as least 1 in 100 to find one.

Quote: "Choucas"Monninen, can you tell me more about the banknote you just posted ?
It took time to notice this post. There are so many additions.

It is a 75 kopek banknote issued for Finland. Kind of an attempt to stop the using of Swedish coins, as when they changed rulers, a lot of Swedish coins got stuck here. :D

The "printage" whatever it is called, would be shown on the setelit.com web page, but for now it does not work. It is about 100 thousand. It sounds usual but the banknote is actually very rare. Usually it is only sold at auctions, probably a few times a year. I have an guess that this is the only one on sale in a shop, in Finland right now.

Because it was printed in 1825, it was used a lot. I have never seen a good condition one. The bank of finland probably has some of them. Hopefully no-one buys this before I do.

The banknote was a part of a series with 20, 50 kopek and 1, 2 (and 4, 10) rubles banknotes. It the about the size of a 5 euro banknote, probably a bit smaller but taller.

There is one 1 ruble on sale, on ebay!

As the price is 390€, it is still in a quite good condition. I have seen a half of that banknote sold for 100€. The ruble banknotes are rare because of in 1860, we started to use the markka and the ruble banknotes were forgotten. Some of the years are lost to time, and some only have 1-5 notes left...
Thanks for the reply ! :wiz:
I've never seen banknotes like this before. Nice addition.

I recently went to my local coin dealer and that's where I started my US Presidential Collection in the coin book. I also got a Cook Islands first issue 1 dollar (1972) and he gave to me for free a New Zealand National Parks Centennial Coin in it's original case.

Looking for pre 1783 coins

Reminds me of wayyyy back when I first got my own 1876 Wilhelm I Prussian 2 Marks....
A semi-upgrade to my existing one. This one has full legends as opposed to my previous one. Furthermore, it clearly indicates two different sub-types for this particular coin where the obverse legend are different. Lianta only illustrates Legend Type 1 and as such the two examples in the Ashmolean Museum are variations of that legend...

Definitely prefer the new one!
Another upgrade (or a complement) that I picked up this month. Both, the old and new versions of this coin are stellar for the type...

@EssorProf I like your African coins, and the fact that they're from countries I referee for makes me apppreciate them even more.
