US Mint $5 coin is first-ever pink gold, at least for US.

How do they make "pink gold"? Is it alloyed with copper or some other metal?

If you look at the pink gold coin by itself, it's nowhere near as pink as it's shown on the US mint's web site. It looks pretty much like a modern 90% gold half eagle.


However, if you compare it side-by-side with another gold coin, you can clearly see that the pink gold coin is more coppery in color. With only 85% gold, the gold content is less than the usual .241875 ozt
