I was wondering if anyone knows where I can obtain a numista style website source code?
Basically I am trying to restart a project that was started by the late Pinchas Bar-Zeev who was a numismatist specializing in all Israeli numismatics. Unfortunately his project www.sheqel.info came to an end with his passing in November 2016. I would love to restart and hopefully expand on his project to its completion.
My budget is somewhat limited so I cannot afford to hire a private programmer to start from scratch.
I have a design I have been working on for the front end But would still need the Backend management part.
NOTE: THIS WEBSITE WOULD IN NO WAY COMPETE WITH NUMISTA.COM. IT IS SPECIFICALLY GEARED AS SOMEWHAT OF AN ENCYCLOPEDIA FOR ISRAELI NUMISMATICS. IT WOULD DETAIL THE BACK STORY OF THE IMAGES ETC... ON COINS AND BANKNOTES. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW FOR COLLECTION MANAGEMENT. IT WOULD BE A RESEARCH SITE ONLY!
Quote: "Muenzenhamster"i would copy the whole server but then i am afraid you still have to analyse the sourcecode.
http://www.httrack.com
I would like to do everything 100% legal without infringement.
thanks
An admirable move, and a wise one considering source code falls under copyright law.
I think it's a great idea to continue this work. Perhaps a message to Xavier would be better than a forum post.
Alternatively you could explore some free or cheap templates that might suit your purposes. A lot of them come with customization options that don't require coding. There are thousands out there and most databases have decent search parameters, I'm sure you could find something to adapt.
If it's just a "basic" research site you may also consider looking into some pre-built templates in Wordpress, Joomla, etc. to adapt after. Some plugins could help you get more functionalities and options.
Besides domain name and maybe hosting costs this solution could help you achieve a website for free and without too many coding steps or maintenance.
Sapientiae plerumque stultitia est comes.
Si c'est un grand plaisir d'être reconnu par ses amis, c'est peut-être encore plus flatteur d'être reconnu par ses adversaires.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
Sorry wordpress, jimdo, joomla etc. are pure crap.
Besides all their restrictions, they charge you also hefty sums.
I posted already very good templates which are free, responsive aka mobile friendly and clean coded. Just take 2 weeks and analyze them step by step. For all special eyecandy stuff like lazy loading, loading screen, mouse over gimicks check github for opensource solutions.
Why you don't ask if in Numista there are some computer experts from Israel, maybe some professor or teachers, or someone that love to program. A website of this kind is quite simple and you don't need someone with very specialized competencies.
Your website may be a nice topic for a course project, but you need someone from your country. It could be a project for the web application course in our degree, but the students are italian
Try to appeal for such kind of contribution

What an admirable project! I wish you a great deal of success for this endeavour. Incidentally, I've copied a link to the "Shekel" site on my Notaphilyc Culture "Notaphylic sites" page. When I started my site, I knew learning HTML code (or some CSS) would have been the proper way to proceed, but I ended up taking the lazy-man's route and just used a Google site (which is super easy/user friendly). It's naturally a bit limited but suits my needs. Good luck!
Colnect is created in Israel. You might need to propose a cooperation, not just asking for source code.
competition from you is the last thing they worry. First you have to make sure your server, your email, and your laptops for developing is safe and will be safe forever, which is impossible to make such a promise, unless you’re in the same team wit them and then let their company manage such risks.
