Question on Russian medal

5 posts
Hello I have this medal here of Peter I.

Pictures look a bit terrible as this White metal medal is quite corroded.

We have a simillar medal in the catalogue here https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces126647.html but still it looks quite different.

Anyone with the Diakov catalogue who could find a fitting catalogue number?

Metal: Pewter
Weight: 71.34g
Diameter: 61mm

Perhaps you can use Google translate to type the russian legend
Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum
Rijkdom bestaat niet uit het hebben van veel bezittingen, maar in het hebben van weinig behoeften
A different metal but ...

So maybe your metal version is Diakov I, 189/56.8 or similar. :)

Also found this page which has same (copper) metal as that one, plus Russian lettering ...

Взятие четырех шведских фрегатов около острова Гренгам, 27 июля 1720
Taking of four Swedish frigates near the island of Grengam, July 27, 1720

Not sure how much of that description is actual lettering on the medal.
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
Diakov 56.9 - Commemorates capture of some Swedish frigates. (Shows russian boats attacking them)
(56.8 is copper Zac, and 56.6 Pewter - That auction wrongly attributes)

Beautiful medal. I'd have that in my collection.
Excellent cheers guys, so it must be pewter and Diakov 56.6 catalogue number.
