For the record, here's the description:
"OLD BAG OF COINS BEING TOLD THEY COULD FETCH ANYTHING FROM 3 TO 6 MILLION AT AUCTION I AM WILLING TO LET THEM OFF AT 1.5 MILLION EURO THE WEIGHT OF THE COINS IN THE BAG IS 13.9 KG or just over 30 pounds in weight which is a lot of coins they were valued by a coin dealer from Dublin who said he would buy them if he had the money I will accept cash as payment"
just roughly based on the standard going rate of $10 per pound of bulk world coins - minus a bit for a bulk discount
10$ for pound? Dam. I pay £45 for 10kg. Also, you normally expect some mystery when buying bulk lots. You can see this lot is all just modern Irish pingin lol. If you want i can sell you 10kg of pre-euro french centimes for 10$ per pound :))
I never buy lots of more than a couple of pieces, and why anyone would want to buy a X kg bag of common coins is beyond me.
I mean if one's not cynical enough to believe the sellers who say their lots are "unsearched", then your chances are still quite limited, and even if you do find something afterwards you'll still be stuck with a few kilos of face value coins.

Depends on your source. The guy i buy from buys his coins from charity shops, and only picks out really high value coins, like gold, or high grade silver, etc. There's always silver, and have had plenty of rare and interesting finds in the lots. He is not interested unless they are worth hundreds of £.
I do collect common coins by type, so whatever i don't have i add to my collection, and the rest i re-sell and usually make most my money back, and sometimes i make a profit. Would never buy a lot from ebay though 'Unresearched lots', then you look at their other listingss and a bunch of slightly rarer coins listed individually .. hmmm lol
Yeah, that sounds more sensible, I was thinking of Ebay lots like the one in the spotlight above.
Come to think of it, the cheap trays in which you find the occasional silver or rarity are probably themselves bulk lots poured into trays, so maybe occurrence is higher than I think.
I couldn't resist it, I made an offer (not a very high one, I must admit!) Unfortunately, my offer was not accepted and I received the following message, "Sorry ******, johnabbey234567 has turned down your offer of EUR 15.61. You can't send another offer because you've reached your limit".
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
