Victoria token 1887 - identification needed

5 posts
Hi all,

I've got another unknown token for you to help out with!

I'm sorry the images aren't brilliant - it's a tiny coin (~12mm) and quite dark. The lettering I can make out says " 'M OF ONE CROWN  L CHR  LA??R", and 1887 on the reverse.

Any ideas?

Hello,

I have a similar piece with Edward VII that is a 3 pence.  The L CHR LAUER that you see is Ludwig Christian Lauer, and I believe they are referred to as "toy coins" used in games in the UK.  I am not sure if they're worth anything.

Regards,
David

There are 214 coins (including yours, below) on there, across five pages. And yes they are toy coins.

Thanks both.
It is a Toy coin. L. C. Lauer made several different toy coins of this type. I have the 2 sovgn coin of this type listed in the token section.
Mine is 13 mm and made of brass.
