Shell/bullet case UK coins

Hi. I've heard mention of old shell cases being recycled for their metal into bronze UK coins post WWI, but can't find any information on the subject. Does anyone know if this was the case or have any information? Thank you.

I remember reading once that old shell casings were recycled into making post-war pennies, and impurities in those resulted in the coins getting weird toning. Not sure where I read it (if it was on Numista I can't find it), or even if the pennies were British or American (or even if it was after WWI or WWII).

This Nepal coin was also made from bullet casings
Thanks all. No conclusive evidence then, but enough to make it a possibility. Will have to keep researching.
I collect old brass gun shells, so I hope they did not melt down too many. What would I do?
