Patience with swaps to/from Canada - Canada Post labor dispute

Canada Post is going through a labor dispute for the last few weeks (Nov. 2018) which has greatly disrupted the postal service. The reports today talk about "At least 600 Canada Post trailers are currently sitting idle with more than 1.5 million pieces of undelivered mail", and "That backlog has become so bad that Canada Post has even urged international partners to halt mail shipments to Canada". They are talking about over 30 days of delay for international mail. The government is threatening to take action if this is not resolved soon as the holiday season is fast approaching, but even if this gets solved tomorrow it will take some time for things to get back to normal. So please trust your Canadian swap partners, they are as annoyed as you are as they are also patiently waiting for your mail (6 swaps in my case) to arrive.

Thanks for this. I'm also waiting on a swap from Canada and while the tracking number kept saying "Delivery may be delayed due to labour disruption" I had no idea about the scale of the disruption. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

UPDATE: The government forced the employees back to work. The union is not happy so there still may be some trouble but things should get back to normal. They say mail backlog will take into January 2019 to clear up though.
