Roman coin giving me some trouble

8 posts
Hi guys I’m stuck on this coin - it’s mainly the mint mark giving me trouble.
Is a Constantine commemorative Roma facing left with helmet and mantle,
she wolf and twins. Mint mark ???

Hello,

Second or third officina (B or Gamma) of Siscia for this one : https://fr.numista.com/catalogue/pieces57574.html

Please provide weight and diameter when you ask for an identification : contemporary forgeries and unofficial imitations with reduce sizes (later version of the barbarous radiate) exist for this type.
Hi

thanks for reply that has been most useful. The item is still in postal system on way to me as soon as it arrives i will weigh it and list diameter.

Here is a close up picture i have highleighted in red a letter that loons like an N I dont see an N on any sisica mint marks what is your opinioun on this
It looks a bit like a N but It’s a (badly realised) S.
The auto-translate on the Numista page really went crazy on this one:

"Avers
Rome's battleship and battleship on the left, seen three-quarters in front."

The French was:

"Avers
Buste casqué et cuirassé de Rome à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant."

Loosely: Armored bust, facing three-quarters turned to front.

Seems like a google-translate has been done there... :° "Cuirassé" means indeed battleship, but only when it's used as a single noun, and not as an adjective. But I can't find out where does the second "battleship" come from... Anyway, there is no battleship on this coin. <:D

Complete and correct translation would indeed be something like
"Armored and helmeted bust of Roma left, facing three-quarters"
From what I’ve researched there are 14 variations to the RIC #240 and that this coin which has the ruffled/bristle hair of wolf highlighted in red,We also have large gap between stars highlighted green. Pointed snout highlighted in green

Also Roma’s helmet bust has a Curved J shaped ribbon type. Highlighted in red

I will upload photos show what I mean. This appears to be a much more uncommon variant
