It got deleted so I'll put it up again without the swears
The argument between Hamster and Druzhynets got heated, and there was abuse from both sides but only one person got a ban.
Druzhynets told Hamster to go @#$% himself, he's said the same to me a couple of times when I criticized the way he ran the MPCC, here is one instance https://en.numista.com/forum/topic74900.html Why is it that Hamster gets a ban for his words and for "being rude" but Druzhynets gets to abuse more than one member of the site who says something he doesn't like and yet gets no repercussions?
I guess there's one rule for us plebs and one rule for the rest.
One is systematically building the site and other is systematically trying to abuse it. That is my point of view, and since one was banned and other was not, I guess moderators shared similar point of view. But I guess you could have asked them directly, instead of putting this here again.
BTW: William, I am not really sure why there should be any backlash in regards to your comment. If you are 14, this is quite a statement.

It does not matter if "one is trying to build the site" A breach of forum guidelines is a breach of forum guidelines.
My criticism of the way he ran the competition was not abusive, but Druzhynet's response for me to go and @#$% myself was, he's said it to me twice and to Hamster at least once. That is what I mean by a rule for one and a rule for the rest.
Surely even catalogue administrators should not be above the law if they start abusing other members on the forum.
As for asking them directly, the whole point is to highlight the fact that some people who seem to be on one "team" will stick up for each other, even if the guidelines have been breached. That is not the job of a moderator, the moderator is supposed to be impartial and enforce the forum laws no matter what your own personal opinions are, and Ville banning Hamster for "being rude" and then allowing Druzhynets to abuse others is not being impartial, and it's not the first time it's happened. Someone else complained a couple of months ago that Ville was removing their comments, but allowing the other comments from people who seem to be on the same "team" to remain.
You mean this is somethind new? Oh no, I for one have been abused for years by a certain member - that's the reason why I've stayed quiet for a while. And we are quite a few members who has filed a complaint against this certain man, but he's been deemed "too valuable for the site", and other members has been banned instead of him. There's no need for name dropping, but I'm sure many still knows who I'm talking about here.
But this is how the real world works as well. Just look at the president of the Unites States. He can say and do whatever he wants, and no one can touch him. Same goes with the president of the Philippines. They can go full crazy, but won't be punished. We "normal" people will just have to learn to accept it and deal with it.
Dear moderators, you can safely ban me from forum for 1 or 2 months, I will neither get disappointed nor will leave the site. My mistake was to get on the same level of abuse as those guys did and I deserve a similar punishment.
There's no need to play the martyr here.
In this particular case I don't think anyone would get banned. And it's important to not be too easy with the banning either. If you're risking to get banned just for losing your temper in one post, that's nothing. But if it escalates to a real fight with personal insults, then we can start thinking about banning. But don't use the banning tool just whenever it fits, or you feel a little butt hurt. There has to be real support for that decision to be made, since it's the most severe punishment you can get here. Don't abuse this punishment for small things, please.

All I'm asking for is consistent moderation.
I am not really sure what to say to all that. Did you report the post? If not, moderators could easily miss it. Swearing in any language should be at least removed from the post. If you think that moderator is being biased, report it further up. (But you just did, since that means Xavier and catalogue admins - Pejounet and me for the time being) And we actually discussed the moderators a while back. We found no wrongdoing and moderators were asked to be more harsh to all forum rules breaches.
Sorry, but i'm now going to wade in with my opinion.
Do the people with the label "numista team" realise how pathetic they (and more importantly the otherwise great website that is numista) look when they descend to the level of the troll and start telling people to go f*** themselves?
It isnt the first time the team member has told somebody to f**** themself, wether it be in Latin, funny font or whatever.
It's pathetic, amateurish amd embarrassing. I recommend this website as a invaluable source of knowledge, I can't believe I have sent so many people here when the "numista team" act like this.
The hamster is a known troll, surely it's easier to just block his profile from the forum?
I also feel that although he was clearly jist doing it for a rise, sometimes he had valid points that were disagreed with purely because it was him writing them. I must admit, I sometimes found his opinions more valid than some of our 'more esteemed' members.
Finally, who is in charge of promoting people to moderator, team etc? What is the criteria for promoting them?

I can't remember if I reported or not, but whether I did or not, it shows previous form from Druzhnets that has gone unpunished while Hamster gets a ban for a pretty tame, tongue in cheek mocking that used one swear word which was not even used in an abusive way
You may have decided that there was no wrongdoing by moderators, but as you can see below your post, there are other members that do not agree with this.

If it was not reported, then there is nothing one can say to moderators, they are just not to blame.
To answer some questions:
The hamster is a known troll, surely it's easier to just block his profile from the forum? Yes, it has been done around 10 times in past. He always comes back, sometimes with new accounts and with no change in behaviour. So this punishment is not working.
Finally, who is in charge of promoting people to moderator, team etc? What is the criteria for promoting them?
Xavier and catalogue administrators are in charge of naming the whole team.
And criteria - no problematic behaviour, willingness to spend a lot of time going through petty forum arguments, being able to take some criticism for job they are doing.

That kind of sarcastic answer to a legitimate question isn't helping your cause any.

Nope and I've been generally unimpressed with the Numista Team in the last couple of years. It is not always an easy job, but it requires a more measured touch than many of those team members have. I don't know if it is simply an age and maturity thing or if the blame lies elsewhere, but I do think some thought should be given to who is placed in these roles and who has the authority to place them.

How sarcastic it might seem, it was not. These are real criteria for moderators. We are not doing psychiatric evaluation and personal interviews. Furthermore, I am not sure I have a case here.

jareck, we are not witch hunting you. It's people tagged "numita team" that are tell8ng people to f/÷$/ themselves that are the issue
Numista team is just pathetic, any other words are useless. They can't even realize how many good people left this forum in last years because of this kind of attitude.
