Modern Fakes -- Numisdoc section

9 posts
Hi everyone,

the Numisdoc section about modern fakes is back to life here!

This means you may request addition of your fakes to the gallery given the following basics:
  1. It has to be YOUR coin (not a coin you spotted on another website);
  2. It has to be a modern fake or forgery (you can prove it thanks to a detail of the coin and not just say it because you feel it);
  3. Tokens and Exonumia are NOT accepted (no advertising tokens, etc.);
  4. Copies or reproduction identified as such are NOT accepted;
  5. You have neat pictures to provide (no neat pictures, no addition);
  6. You send details of the coin as per the gallery template (pictures only is not sufficient).

Once you ticked all the above, you may send me a PM with details and pictures for review and addition.

Waiting for your requests! :D
Sapientiae plerumque stultitia est comes.
Si c'est un grand plaisir d'être reconnu par ses amis, c'est peut-être encore plus flatteur d'être reconnu par ses adversaires.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Hello,

Perhaps we could have a similar Numisdoc but for contemporary forgeries? There are many such coins with niche collectors, from Peninsular War cast coins to Suecava forgeries of Livonian solidi, to silver-coated LMU era lead "silver" coins, and I'm sure many would be interested in such a page.

Just a suggestion! ;)
Let's first start with keeping this one up and running, and we'll see for other lists later on ;)

Why? Isn’t the purpose of the gallery to get as many examples as possible to help people learn to spot a fake?
What? Me Worry
Guys, I've seen a coin exactly like this one at a fair today in Bucharest:

I am amazed that I now found out it was fake, as it looked perfectly like silver ( I am expert in spotting silver).
It also has some fake wear.
I am scared that this kind of fake exists.
