"We are offering a very beautiful medal from Belgium, the silver Catholic University of Louvain (Leuven) Medal. The Catholic University of Louvain, founded in 1425, is the largest and oldest university in Belgium. The medal is 59.83 mm in diameter and is made of silver (with a total weight of 2.698 ounces) The medal has gorgeous surfaces. The medal is in BU condition with original luster. It would be a very nice addition to your collection."
I'm using the "natural light" type bulbs but I think I need to use a white, or perhaps black background as everything looks like it's copper. I know that the white light settings can be monkeyed around with but that's way beyond my meagre photographic paygrade.
The eBay listing with the single bidder... well that's me! Speculative buy, it was ending soon and had no bids so I'm thinking that a 2.7 ounce silver medal for $15 is a no-brainer. Even if it's only .500 (I would expect better from one of the world's top universities) it's still 1.35 ounces of silver - a little over $40.
It's too beautiful a thing to be melted down though.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
