Hi all
While on a day trip to France, If I go into a bank with Euro notes will they change them into coins for me or will they say "no" if I haven't got an account with them?
Also do they do coin rolls or bags?

Banks in France will not give you any coin change.
The only exception is when you go to the Post office, you can get change from a 20€ banknote to buy stamps either with an automatic coin distributor or at the desk. It's a usual but not official way to get coins in France : You go to purchase 1 stamp with a 20€ banknote :D
You get banknotes at the cash distributor. They usually distribute 20€ and 10€ when you request less than 60€. Some cash distributors will never give 50€ banknotes. Avoid 50€ banknotes for purchases less than 10€. Stores get usually all the coin change necessary for a purchase. 1 cent and 2 cents are still usued in France.
