What happens if you are caught sending coins?

Hey everyone!
I'm fairly new to this community, and I will be having my first ever swap soon. I'm from Singapore, a country with really strict laws. I heard that it is illegal to send coins through the post.
Has anyone been in this situation before? Will the authorities simply mail the coins back to you or will there be punishments like a fine or a jail term?
I don't know about Singapore but in many countries there are laws that prevent or limit these kind of actions but rarely I heard about someone having serious problems because of that, exception few cases where the coins were from state heritage.

It may differ by country, but the worst thing that can happen during a swap is that you get a little fee to pay and/or that you loose the coins. Tax evasion it's another thing, but that only apply for golden and silver coins with a high economic value. You shouldn't worry much about it when you're just swapping some pocket money.
Cents are money too!
I'd recommend you to try to find cases exactly from Singapore... Experience from any other country is not relevant for you

I only have one swap friend from Singapore, but I have swapped 13 times with her from 2006 to 09/02/2019 and I have ALWAYS gotten the coins from her, well packed between two card boards!

Many countries do have laws about mailing currency or coins so it is important to conceal and protect what you are shipping. If you are filling out a customs form, simply state Numismatic item, hobby supplies, or tokens. I have over 100 swaps and only had a problem once with them getting into the U.S.
