1 Franc 1984 – Strange Alignment?

7 posts
Hi there,
I've got several 10 Franc coins in my collection, but one (dated 1984) is aligned other than the normal way, namely 90° instead of 180°. Is this a common issue?
Can nobody help me with this question?
Do you mean it is medal alignment?
No, it's halfway between medal and coin alignment. Like the Netherland's modern 5 Gulden.
It's really curious (and certainly very interesting) because no mention of such a coin is made in the French catalogue "Le Franc" - very accurate for French coins.
Fascinating! I got this one as normal change money, but of course the anomaly is hard to notice. I had pretty much fun with showing this coin and a usual one to some people and telling them to find the difference.  (8

Yes - there are a couple of us who have 90° errors! And welcome to the site.  :)

So to Netherlands and Argentina we can now add France - to countries that have made such errors.  :8D
