If you are talking about the United States quarter dollar coin, they have always had coin orientation. To my knowledge, no US circulation strike coinage has ever been deliberately struck with medal orientation.
If your coin has medal orientation, that is a serious rarity worth celebrating. If it has coin orientation, then it is just like all the other ones.
