What is the story of this coin? 50 Kopeken 1943
When I first saw it, I thought it is a fantasy coin, because of the head design, which is the same as some DDR coins. I searched for it, but the only thinkgs I could find were some chinese replicas, a german auction catalogue and the numista link. But no history. So, does somebody knows it's story?
Thank you.
Trial strike. Extremely rare.

I can imagine. But I'm curious about it's history. Who asked for it to be engraved? How many pieces were struck? How many survived? Were also other patterns issued? (1 Kopeke, 5 Kopeken, 10 Kopeken etc.)
I see the engraver is Franz Paul Krischker, who also engraved other Third Reich coins, but also DDR coins.
Was his design used without his agreement, or he remained in the East Side of Germany after the end of the Second World War and worked with the Communist regime?
I can imagine why it wasn't issued, because in 1943, the German Army started to be pushed back by the Soviets.

Interesting topic,
There is a lot of documented information about that periode in time. Be aware about the investiment in time that you'll need to get the right answers to your questions. But that is what numismatic is all about.
