Coins I don't wish under 'My coins'

Hi all,

I was recently thinking about a feature that I'm missing in Numista for quite the while now.

First of all - a brief comment how I have my collection organized:
- all coins that I have are marked as 'I don't wish to get'
- I collect circulation coins, thus the grade of the coins doesn't matter that much and I never put in which grade the coin I have is
- coins that I have available for exchange are marked with the respective number of coins I have available

Under 'My coins'
- I only see statistics of the coins I have on my exchange list

I would really appreciate to also get all the statistics on the coins that I marked 'I don't wish to get'.
Because all the stats and overview from which countries/areas I have coins in my collection is very neat! Unfortunately, I only see that for coins I'm willing to exchange, which isn't super interesting or helpful. I think many collectors on Numista have a similar system than I do and grading coins isn't something that many collectors are familiar with (including myself).

Thus, it would be great if there is a way to get that feature implemented (otherwise I have to spend a lot of time to type in a random grade/quantity for each of my coins...)

Thanks

You are using the "don't wish" feature in different way than it was intended.

Maybe you're right but for me it's the easiest and fastest way to check off coins that are already in my collection.
I could now go ahead and put in a generic grade and year (most likely the first year the coin was minted) for each coin but than that would throw off the statistics of who owns which year.
Hello,

I see you are still using the "old" collection management system, where you had to select a grade. You could switch to the new system by selecting "One line per coin in my collection, with coin values (recommended)" in your account settings.
This allows to new features to manage your collection, including the ability to enter coins without a grade.
It's not possible to skip choosing a date though (although it's planned: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic82347.html)

Your use case of mis-using the "I don't wish this coin" feature to register your collection looks quite specific. I don't plan to implement statistics for the coins marks as not wished.
Hello everyone,

I'm using the "new" collection management system and I also have some coins checked as 'I don't wish this coin'. After reading this post I unchecked all of those coins. The statistics remained exactly the same for me.
Then I counted all the coins I have and the total is the same here on Numista. When I count every coin under statistics I get the same number...
So for me everything works perfectly...
The only difference, I now realize, is that every coin that comes out of circulation has a F of VF grade. I have no 'ungraded' coins...

Hi Xavier,

I was not aware of that tool but it is basically the same what I was missing. Now, it will only take 2 clicks to add a coin to my collection. Thanks for pointing that out.
