Translation rejections

Why are my suggestions for translating french to English being rejected by a referee (who I will not name yet) who only speaks French and calls me incompetent? I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Please give a transation example.

But as I've explained, the general trend is:

1. use sentence case for the legend, not upper case:
"Liberty, equality, fraternity", not "LIBERTY EQUALITY FRATERNITY"

2. do not translate dates (e.g. 2000), values (e.g. 5 Fr) and things that are obvious and do not need translation.

3. do not use the original punctuation and topic in the lettering. So if the lettering is :
"+ LIBERTE +
+ EGALITE +
+ FRATERNITE +"
Still it translates to "Liberty, equality fraternity", not
"+ Liberty +
+ Equality +
+ Fraternity +"
