Attach your own pictures to your collection

Hello,

It is now possible to upload and store the pictures of your own coins.

When adding or modifying a coin, just drop your picture into the designated area.
(This is available only with the "new" way to manage and display your collection.)

When looking at your collection, you'll see your pictures over the "camera" icon.

You can also see your picture on the new gallery view for "My coins". If you uploaded some pictures, it will replace the pictures from the catalogue. You also have an option to grey-out the pictures from the catalogue to better see your own pictures. That's the place to zoom in and see your pictures in original size.

The storage is currently limited to 500 MB per person. You can control your storage on the new page accessible via the link "Manage my picture storage" next to the link to export your collection on "My coins".
Wow thank you, I'm sure many users will find this feature useful!
It's like a miracle, really
the site becomes more and more oriented to users
bravo, really!

But how do you get to that first picture >

'Edit items in my collection'

I cannot find it - neither on a coin page nor in the amendments section for that page.

Oh, and on the collection page, when it says 'Highlight my own pictures'
does that mean only from today's date, by uploading with the new system?
As in the Tokens section, for example, I see many pages where I have created
them (years ago), so they would already have my pictures on ...

so of those 9 as an example, there are 5 pictures that are not mine, and 4 that are.
Yet as shown there are all 9 that are faded out, so not in colour - which I guess
is how the new pages would look.

This could save some space if catalog pictures that you have uploaded would count as your own but I don't know if this woud be worth the effort.
Very neat!

Dear Xavier,
what will happen after I use all my free space of 500 Mb and how to increase it?
mumi numi
After you use your 500 Mo, you will not be able to upload new pictures (unless you delete some previous pictures). There is currently no way to increase your quota.
Very nice feature (thanks!)
- I suggest you keep your images small (use compressed images only) & select only those you wish to see.

Well, I will ask you then - nobody answered my earlier reply.
Please tell me how to upload my own pictures - the instructions
above are not clear, to me. Thanks :)

  1. Search your coins (or banknotes) & hit the "My banknotes" icon (or "My coins" icon)

2. Edit specific coin (or banknote) by hitting the little Pen icon (next to Garbage pail)

3. Drag & drop your cropped (compressed) image from your file (or desktop if you have image there).

4. Be sure to hit "SAVE"

Note that this is available only if you selected "Complete display, with support for more collection details and values (recommended)" in your account settings.
If you chose the old display of your collection ("Legacy display, with boxes to enter my collection in each grade"), which I believe is your case ZacUK, you can only enter the numbers for each grade and a comment, not all the fields added you can see in the screenshot "Edit items in my collection".

Just click on the pen next to an entry, it opens.

If you are adding a coin - it comes up as default and you can add heads and tails pictures too!

I think its a great feature and invaluable if you have theft or any calamity - plus you can show people your coins with out getting them out physically. Of course I won't upload every coin - just my favourites and best coins!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Thanks everyone, now got it to work ...

I also support this idea! In case I've added a picture to catalogue and mark it as a picture made by myself (and do not have any pictures of the same coin uploaded as my picture), it would be great if it is highlighted as my own picture, not as a catalogue picture (and not count in 500 mb available).

Agreed with the above Grinya reply - I would not mind going through all pages of coins that
I have, and which have my pictures already uploaded. So in my second picture I could mark
those 4 pictures as being mine, and yes hopefully they would not be included in the limit -
as they are already on here, some from years ago. They would also then not be grey colour.

If that were implemented, then yes it would go back to grey if someone were to
upload better pictures. One suggestion would be to change the name under the pictures,
from just being a black lettering but a link to a profile - which would somehow make a link
that the site would recognise. The page address is already known, and then too the member
would be known, then the two could be joined on this new collection images section.
Something like that. Example below ...

but yes, if there can be no link system like that made directly, I still would not mind going
through all my pages, if that name below the pictures could be turned into a link - so just
that would be needed to be created.

I have to say this is an amazing website. Adding this feature only makes it better. I have been a member for more than a year and I am still finding features I did not know were there...Thank you so much for your efforts

Must agree (& I've only been a member for less than a month)! Thank you Xavier (& team/refs/etc) for making Numista so user&future-friendly!

This is a wonderful feature! Thank you, Xavier!
This drag&drop feature probably had some change in the site code. Suddenly hitting ENTER button does not position focus&hit on "save" option. Please bring that back again...

Thank you, great feature.
