Yep, the date is 1688. Not any luck from there. It must be something else that Spanish Neth coin then.

CAROL HISP ET - INDI REX

Any ideas where does this "INDI" relate this?
Abbreviation of
CAROLUS HISPANIARUM ET INDIARUM REX

None at all and I find no king carol from from SPAIN 1888.

The only king carol I find is from Romania 1839-1914).... he is from Hohenzollern and was King Carol I of Romania, but no coins with the inscriptions on the coin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_I_of_Romania

Sorry

Most likely somewhere in Spanish Netherlands. Example:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces19971.html
which yes is a different coin, but ...
has the lettering CAROL II
has the lettering INDIAR
is around the 1688 date

That is your second reply - the first says (correctly) 1688 ! 8)

Anyway, I cannot find any coin with a crown above II letters. 8.

No idea about the coin but just a little tip for the "Carol" word.

IN CASE that "Carol" is equal to "Carolus", which i dont know since i have no idea about the coin, you need to search for the name "Carlos".

The "Carolus" word is somehting long know in spanish coins since we had a lot of kings afther the name in spanish CARLOS and they almost always put their name in the "latin form" of "Carolus".

If the coin is from 1688 it could be Carlos II, the last king from the Austria house whose rule ended in the year 1700 (afther him, we had the Borbones house).

Also a little point for 1888, its not likely since then we had as king Alfonso XII.

Good luck, hope this can helps a bit

Yep, the date is clearly 1688. Charles II was the king of Spain at that time.

Is it possible that this is a Latin American type?
