One of the numbers within the serial number is half & half.

Reason please

It's number 1 of a set of three with different designs apparently.

It's the serial number on the banknote that's not quite right. I know the catalogue number is correct.

If you look at the second number from the right, it is not a definitive number, as the printing machine has not rolled around corectly.

It is 0228?0. What happened with the ?

​Looks to me like a "Partial Digit" serial number error. What exactly happened I cannot say. It is likely that the tumbler (which rolls different numbers between prints) got jammed midway. The premium for these errors is dependent on the extent of the error (so that a mismatch serial number is 100% higher in BV)*, the condition of the note & rarity of the said note.

*in some cases there is no premium on SN errors for World banknotes. The production of the Albania 10 Lek Valute (= 500 Leke) P-49 was so poor in terms of QC that the BV of banknotes with a serial number, without a serial number & banknotes with mismatched serial numbers are all the same (about $20). Ah sorry misinterpreted the sentence. Yes, either stuck roller or the machine was not adjusted for the right speed.

Yes, the number stamping part only turned halfway in the fifth section,
so maybe 022889 was previous then 022890 was meant to be the next number,
but it only stamped the lower part of the 9 and the top of the 8 number.
So the 0 at the end rotated correctly but not the number to the left of it.
Maybe 2/3 or 5/6 or 8/9 or 9/0 but not sure; also which way the numbers change,
so could be moving down or up.
