It's already August in New Zealand and the year is flying by.

Here is my latest additions to the family.

1940 Florin - VF (One of the more scarce dates), Now with the Florins largely done its time for the .........

Shillings - the upgrades get cheaper as we go down the denominations.

1934 - Extremely fine (An affordable grade for common dates)

1935 - gVery Fine, a more scarce date and thus slightly less nice coin.

These guys are replacing a series of coins in gVG condition that have been cleaned, I will show these when I get them in the comparison thread.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

2 more coins

1937 - good Very Fine - the individual strands on the skirt are visible down to this grade

1947 Cupronickel - EF/EF+ Surprisingly the Cupronickel coins before 1950 are common as dirt in VG/Fine - but incredibly rare in EF to UNC - more rare than some of the silver dates!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Got a nice mix of new romans to start this month:
As - Emperor Lucius Verus (Co-Emperor of the better known Marcus Aurelius) with the interesting title ARMENIACVS in the legend:

Antoninianus - Emperor Trebonianus Gallus - IVNO MARTIALIS :

Antoninianus - Emperor Probus - ADVENTVS AVG:

Follis - Julian during his time as Caesar:

And 2 nice Folles from the reign of Emperor Gratian:

All of my new halfcrowns have arrived (Well they are hardly new)
New purchases though

Top row - 1821, 1835, 1849small date
Bottom row - 1875, 1878, 1881.

Not shown is the 1750, it arrived an hour later from a different courier group.
Best of the group is this 1849 small date

Obviously cleaned and some uneven wear, this would grade near Fine and is a scarce piece (Under 250k)
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Will try to bring some more, with a bit of luck on weekend

Leave you with my first notgeld banknote from Vila Real de Santo António, Algarve, Portugal. Hope you like as much as I do.

I've also aquired these two coins, one from Portugal ( 1 centavo de 1920) and the other from Slovakia ( 2€ Constantine and Methodius 2013).

Nice notgeld!

Picked up a few bits this month - have not gotten round to photographing them all yet.

Nice token. And your pictures are so much better, please make a change request.
Agreed - here are your pictures for that page ...

Some of the additions of past week (I didnt had time enough to play with all of them):

Se queres ca muller che queira, ten diñeiro na carteira
Love those Egyptian coins there - Those Ottoman Turkish things always fascinate me, many of our soldiers bought them back as souvenirs in both world wars.

Here is my latest haul of Kiwi classics.

1946 Florin - Roundback, the more common variety (gVF - seems to be my favourite condition for a coin at the moment!)

1953 Florin, rarer than it looks - the only post 1946 date that you really need to look for and this is a nice one (EF/AU)

1945 Shilling, again in that condition (gVF)

1944 Sixpence EF - My sixpence collection is looking heinous and I am eager to start upgrading it - plus Sixpences are quite cheap, yet fairly scarce.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
Member of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand and the Auckland Numismatic Society
And finally two scarce and very expensive dates in the Florin series

1944 Florin - 140k issued, less than all but 1963 - this VF coin cost me an
incredible $80

Even more expensive and rare

1936 - 150k issued, but older and thus more rare - these coins cost $30 in
average (G - VG) condition! This VF+ example cost me an incredible
$125!!! If I wanted it in EF - figure $500 and UNC - add a 0 on to the amount
I paid if such a coin exists.

That finishes off my Florins, all dates and all at least VF except 1949, 50, 51.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Two more coins from past week, one a nice error find (i didnt notice it when i bought both of them, i just like this coin)

As you can see in the second coin, mint mark side, the rim is almost totally off

Since I saw Mr. Midnight additions of egypt coins to his collection, I loved them and now if I see a cheap one, i buy it.

Well done finishing off your collection "Moneytane." I appreciate seeing rare banknotes & coins in such collectible condition & know what a challenge it can be to complete a set.

Last from past week!!

Note the die crack in the portait side all along the lettrering

Now a personal curiosity; I used to play this "guy" music in the conservatory (spent 10 years there)

Got full set of Zimbabwe 2019-2020.
Recently acquired a couple of 'small but perfectly formed' additions to my type collection.

UK 1 Farthing - George V (modified effigy)

This was a higher grade and lower mintage than my previous 1932 example and also happens to be the year of my late father's birth so this acquisition was particularly special to me.

Jersey 1/48 Shilling - Victoria

I have been looking for one of these for quite a while and most I have seen for sale were either silly money or little more than bronze washers - I picked this one up for the value shown in the Numista catalogue so was very pleased when it turned out as good as it is!

That is just absolutely stunning - what a beautiful piece.

All I have bought this week are these

4 gVF Threepences - the great thing about these coins is how cheap they are.
These coins cost me $25 in total ($6 for the 1940s ones and $7 for the 1936)

Radrick, that farthing is really nice too - I love me some nice farthings like this one.

Scarce date too.
I have returned this one, as I suspected it was a fake. It was a wine pink colour when it arrived. The dealer could not provide enough provenance and so back it goes.

3 Olympic related, 2 from Munich 1972 and 1 from Innsbruck 1964. The seller gave me Japan 10 sen from 1921 as a bonus

And the 75th year of Indonesian independence commemorative banknote which is not in the catalog (yet)
All the following arrived today, some took over 2 weeks, due to pick ups that were aborted by yet ANOTHER lockdown caused by one family getting Coronavirus

British Florin - gFine cheap at only $10

EF 1951 Halfcrown and AU Florin of 1953 NZ

EF Sixpence and 2 very nice Threepence from first years of the Cupronickel

Got some nice medals from the german empire:
Kaisermanöver 1884 - My first Kaisermanöver medal from the rule of Emperor Wilhelm I.

Coronation medal from the 1888 coronation of Emperor Wilhelm II

Marriage medal from the marriage of prussian Crownprince Wilhelm and Princess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin

Also this nice roman: Emperor Maximinus II. - I already had a coin from his time as Caesar but I really wanted to have one of his later coins too:
Really liked the Willhem II's medal and your romam coin alfonz. I finally bought some coins from the seller I told you few weeks ago, quite pricy for my wallet (3 coins = 47€) but I really like them; I just hope that they will stay in that condition (due to the humid weather I have where I live)

Hi all
I just got home from bank with a couple of bags of 10p's.
the first bag had nothing special but in the second bag I had 3 Canadian 25c coins. 2 were ordinary but the other one was a 2005 "Year of the Veteran" commemorative and it looks uncirculated.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces319.html
Finally I was at the first coin meeting this year :)

the new commemorative Hungarian 10 and 20 forint

some Arpadian, middle age coins

some tokens

and some nice medals :)
My instant Florin collection, the dealer was letting these go cheep!

All but 5 of them cost $9 each, 22 coins in all. The 1917 and 1918 I paid close to $40 each for and the 1930 and 1931 were about $10 each.

Each coin has $7.50 worth of silver and the 1910s ones $13.75 of silver!
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

My last addition for the August:)
Beautiful coin!
4 beautiful Italian coins from a local coin shop in Rome. Paid €50 for the 3 and got the 4th one and the 2020 Gigante catalogue as freebies!

paid €20 for a 1914 2 lire in XF-AU shape and an 1877 5 lire in VF shape. Paid €10 for a 1913 1 lire in VF condition with some ugly toning. Got a 1916 1 centesimo in XF detail (no lustre) for free.

And there went the 50 euros I had allocated for coins...
Sounds great but we have a September thread now (8
