Hooray, I got in first. We all know the drill.....anything new, let us see!
I picked up a nice 2 Rentenpfennig coin from Germany. As per normal, it looks better than my scan. The coin is AU with beautiful lustre that doesn't really show in the scan of my cheapo scanner. Unfortunately though, the coin has a fingerprint over the denomination.
Oh and don't forget to share your purchase price if you got a good deal. This baby set me back NZ$5 (about US$3, and the value in XF is US$7).
I've picked up a small haul this month, instead of one expensive piece like I have been the last few months.

I won a collection of 7 UK Conder or Currency tokens yesterday ...
'Nice group of mixed farthings | 18th & 19th Century | Conder, Unofficial tokens'
I think I have only one of them (the balloon commemorative) already,
but even then my first one has a hole and is a different version.
Also won this the day before ...
'1813 Chatteris Farthing Token'
I now have three of them; the first I got was well worn, but I identified it,
and the second I got was good condition, and this above was a cheap price.
Most of my new additions are under investigaton in the ID section. I should add a new Rome coinage from Antioch to register and a strange coin from Lorraine with a countermark.
EDIT: the countermarked Lorraine coin is a Sol - Charles III with the alerion variety made to reduce its facial value from 12 deniers to 10.

Not a coin or token but a little side area I collect, I cant resist when I see one.
Paid a very small premium over spot.
My lights don't do it justice, in lovely condition with a nice colour.
9ct gold, 8.1g.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.
In addition to the 10 authentically genuine "Ancient Chinese Spade Coins" I received the other day.
(Which will probably be on a necklace by the end of the weekend)
Today I received:
1969 Bahamas 1 Cent
1994 Nicaragua 50 Centavos
1992 Vatican City 200 Lire
Adding 3 new countries to my collection.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
No new country but still a new coin today: Argentine Provinces Un Decimo 1822.

A lot of 40 different German states coins arrived today, from the same dealer who sent me a lot of 20 last month.
As a bonus he included the following medallion from Australia.
46.23 mm diam
3.4 mm thick
45.87 gr
I believe it is silver plated (edge shows a division not quite in the middle with the third toward the Exhibition side more frosted appearing than the 2/3 toward the swan side--I cannot photograph the edge with my current equipment) but cannot find much information on it or its possible value. It is not yet listed in Australian tokens on Numista as far as I can determine. Any comments of interest.

great coins, especially the William rupee, how did you get those mark.
Each coin has its own intrinsic value, never disregard any coin be it a penny or a mohur.
'1868 Emperor Napoleon 2 Francs Silver French coin'
'1791 Rochdale Half-Penny Token'
'Kent HalfPenny Token 1795 T-H-D, on the other side date 1067'
'Ipswich Halfpenny Suffolk DH34'
'Mail Coach Halfpenny Middx DH363'
'St. Helena & Ascension 1984 Two Pence coin (from split set)'
'Set of 5 United Kingdom Ecu coins (pre-Euro prototype)'
'Tuvalu 1985 50 cents coin (very good condition)'
I have bids on some French jetons too, but not won them yet.
EDIT: March 2017 - update on the seventh item, from Ipswich, which I recently submitted
to the page below, as they did not have it on there (Ipswich coat of Arms), and it got accepted
(near end of the page) ... http://www.ipswich-lettering.co.uk/crests.html
Very happy with this for £30 which is slightly less than half the catalogue value and a lot less than half of what similar pieces are being offered for !

Quote: "dptashny"WOW! May I ask how much you paid for it?
If you asked me I paid 89 USD. I probably could've got it cheaper, but there was one aggresive bidder who pushed my limit to its maximum. But I mean, I'm a fan of the Danzig coins and since they are pretty rare here in Sweden I took the chance!

What a coincidence - just yesterday one of these turned up in one if the bulk lots I got, and I was going to ask on the forum for its value. I haven't decided whether to keep it or not, as I usually don't collect tokens though.
Just added 5 new coins, thanks to Pipo7 in Belgium:
Bhutan 1975 5 Chetrums
Falkland islands 1985 1 Cent
Isle of Man 1977 1/2 Penny
Maldives 2012 10 Laari
Myanmar 1991 25 Pyas
Very nice coins and a very nice addition to my collection

That is Hibernia right? Modern Ireland island.
I think it's more likely a crude George IV. This is a Canadian colonial token not Irish, i got it cheap so I need to delve into it more online whilst I wait for my charlton catalogue to arrive !

Thanks. I paid 90 EUR for them. I usually don't spend these amounts but these were too lovely. I just hope they are real. They come from a reputable dealer but you never know.
I just added the 10 Stuivers from Utrecht (Dutch Republic) to the catalog.

These Faeroer issues are Danish coins minted by the Royal Mint for use in British-occupied Faeroer. They contain no Danish mintmarks and are struck in pre-war material, and not in aluminium or zinc like the Danish coinage of that year.
That these are listed under Faeroer is a bit of a corner case. Yes these coins were indeed intended only for use on the Faeroer Islands. Most likely the Danish government under German occupation did not authorise this issue. So issuing authority in this case is the Faeroer itself ordering coins from the UK. What speaks against it is that the coins look exactly the same as pre-war Danish coinage.

Thanks, Jokinen for this small but productive article. It was very informative for me.

The Faroese coins were minted 1941-1942 and are pretty easy to spot from the Danish during the same years. 1-5 øre is in bronze and 10-25 øre is in copper-nickel instead of zinc. They also don't have the danish mint mark, the ♡.
plus 3 x whitman booklets of small cents nothing major the odd hanging 3 or die cracks and after 4 hrs put them away ---then thought better check them again for my granddaughters collection ??????? how did I miss that

Probably my last acquisition of the year arrived today a bulk lot described as cataloging $463 and sold at $50. Some of the coins are very worn and some are duplicates of coins I already own. But among the 37 coins was this Australian penny, KM# 23, the scarce 1919 variety with dot below bottom scroll and dot above top scroll, cataloging $125 in VF grade.
I'm not sure what happened there. My original post said "That's a nice example of a clipped planchet Don" In response to his post where he listed all his Canadian purchases.
and an undated (worn date) German states (Württemberg) 6 Kreutzer

And this little baby that I got for NZ$15
very nice ! That's PE10-32 I believe I can't tell best from the pics (can't zoom in on letters enough) but it's got toothed reverse border and A die cut on un furled mizzen sail ? Am I right ? If it is well done ! It's a type I've yet to acquire.
I never got a chance to put this up when I got it in Nov. A member offered this up for sale, and another member knew I would like it so he got it for me! Thanks
Its pretty Awesome, and an interesting time in the "penny"
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

I have no idea of the type. I just saw it and I liked it so I bought it ;)
I understand that NZ$15 (£6) is a decent price for that token, any info you can give me or site I can identify it would be a help.

My Trinidad 1 Stampee from earlier this month is now re-toned with nic-a-tone i know not everyone will agree with it but it's much better than its previously cleaned state :)
Mark, I've never heard of it but that's all toning is anyway, the metal reacting with chemicals. I don't see a problem with it as long as it can't cause verdigris.

1902 Crown, very high EF+ grade, Bit pricey but well worth it. (The images are scanned, seller images, not mine)
Beautiful coin and had to have it, I wont be getting any more until next year.
My Mrs and son got me some cute crown sized sentimental bullion coins.
Oh sweet! May I ask the eternal question... how much did you pay for it?
